Coffs Coast businesses we work with on SEO, Google Ads and websites

What we do

SEO services in Coffs Harbour, and what sits beside them

We offer four services and plan them as one. A change to your Ads or website is checked against your SEO before it goes live.

SEO and local SEO

Search engine optimisation for Coffs Harbour businesses that want more of a specific type of work. Service pages that match real searches, a Google Business Profile that ranks in Maps, technical fixes, and tracking that shows which pages bring enquiries.

AI search optimisation (GEO and AEO)

Making your business clear and quotable for ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Gemini. It is part of the same SEO work, with no extra fee and no guarantees.

Google Ads management

Search campaigns built around enquiries, not clicks, with tracking checked before we change spend. Useful while SEO builds, or for urgent and seasonal work.

Website design and builds

Fast WordPress websites built to turn visitors into enquiries. Redirects are planned before launch, so a rebuild doesn’t lose the rankings you already have.

Want SEO, Google Ads and the website handled as one plan? See the Marketing Partnership.

Featured case study · SEO and AI search · Brisbane, ranking nationally

Priority Insurance Brokers: 121% more website form leads, and 34 leads from ChatGPT

Client: Priority Insurance Brokers, a Brisbane brokerage for specialist business insurance. An SEO client since February 2025.

The situation

Priority had worked with several SEO providers over five years without consistent results. Its specialist services sat under broad pages that didn’t match how businesses search for cover.

What we did

  1. Gave each specialist line its own page: mining, engineering, dry hire, trades, demolition, roofing and general business insurance.
  2. Wrote each page around the search a buyer actually uses, with relevant expertise and a direct path to an enquiry.
  3. Strengthened the site structure and internal links, so Google can see how the pages relate.
  4. Ran AI search work as part of the same plan, and tracked ChatGPT enquiries as their own source in GA4.

What clients say about working with Josh

“Highly recommend — even if you think your marketing is fine but know it could be better. These guys know their stuff.”

Michelle Wilson, WigWise (Coffs Coast) · Google review, Feb 2026

“After extensive market research we chose Josh and his team to do the SEO for our small business. He has been delight to work with – honest, prompt, hardworking. We saw results within months. Highly recommend.”

Grace D, Dr Kristian van Mourik · Google review, Feb 2026

“Josh and the team are the best digital marketing business in the game. They’ve ensured that we get plenty of leads and that we’re consistently on the first page. They’re the best.”

Simon Burke, Director, Acctivate · Google review Confirm C11

“Have used multiple seo agencies over the last 5 years and spent big, spent small and everything in between and no one was able to show consistent results. Some even went backwards. Josh has managed our seo for the last 6 months and is making some great improvement on possibly the hardest industry to work with (insurance).”

Keyword tools undercount Coffs searches

Ahrefs estimates 0 searches a month for “seo company coffs harbour” (25 Oct 2026). Our own Search Console recorded 3,280 impressions for it over 16 months, from 19 Jun 2025 to 18 Oct 2026. We plan from your Search Console data, not tool estimates.

How Google ranks local results

Google says local results depend mainly on three things. Relevance: do your profile and site match the search? Distance: how far are you from the searcher? Prominence: reviews, links and how well known you are. You can’t change distance, so SEO works on the other two.

You control this

If you sell beyond the Coffs Coast

Distance matters less when your customers are across NSW or Australia. A strong page for each specialist service matters more, and it can win searches far beyond your home town. See how Priority Insurance Brokers did it.

Fit check

Who SEO suits in Coffs Harbour, and who it doesn’t

SEO suits a business people already search for, with room for more work.

SEO usually suits you if

  • People already search for your service. Quick check: search “[your service] coffs harbour”. A map pack means there is local demand.
  • You can take on more of a specific type of work.
  • One new customer is worth enough to fund a few months of work before results show.
  • You sell a specialist service beyond the Coffs Coast.

SEO probably isn’t the first step if

  • You need enquiries this week. Start with Google Ads.
  • Nobody searches for what you sell yet. Build awareness first.
  • You’re fully booked from referrals.
  • You need a guaranteed ranking by a set date. No one can give you that.

Self-check

Common SEO mistakes on local business websites

These five mistakes cost local businesses the most rankings and enquiries. Each one takes a few minutes to check.

Five common SEO mistakes, what each costs and how to check
MistakeWhat it costs youHow to check
Rebuilding the website without redirecting old pagesPages that ranked now return errors. Rankings and calls drop.Search Console › Pages › “Not found (404)” after a rebuild
Redirecting old pages to the homepage or a general pageMost of the old page’s search history is lost. Google ignores “#section” in a link, so /services/#seo lands on /services/.Click an old URL. Does it land on a page about the same thing?

Google Business Profile

Google Business Profile optimisation

Your Google Business Profile decides whether you appear in the map pack. These are the nine parts we set up and check:

  1. Business name: your real-world name only. Adding keywords breaks Google’s guidelines and can get the profile suspended.
  2. Primary category: the one that matches your main service. It has a big effect on which searches you show for. Add secondary categories only for services you actually offer.
  3. Services and products: each one listed, with a short plain description.
  4. Service area: if you travel to customers, add the towns you cover. Google allows up to 20. Show your address only if customers visit you.
  5. Hours: including public holidays and closures.
  6. Photos: real photos of your work, team and premises. No stock images.
  7. Posts: news, new work and offers. Each link carries UTM tags, so GA4 shows profile visits separately.
  8. Website link: to the page that matches your main service, not always the homepage.
  9. Performance: your profile’s Performance report shows calls, direction requests and website clicks. We report these monthly.

Reviews and listings are covered in the next section. For a real example, see Acctivate’s profile views in our results.

Prominence

Reviews and business listings

Reviews and matching listings build the prominence Google uses to rank you in Maps.

Reviews

Reviews affect your map ranking and who people call. We set up a simple routine for asking every happy customer, and for replying to every review. We never write, buy or filter reviews.

Citations and business listings

Your name, address and phone should match everywhere Google and AI tools look. That means Bing Places, Apple Business Connect, Yellow Pages, TrueLocal, Hotfrog and your industry directories. We claim these listings and correct the details.

Technical SEO

Website and technical SEO

We check these six things on every site, because a page Google can’t crawl, load or understand won’t rank. Shieka fixes them on WordPress, or we work with your developer.

Before your meeting

What Josh checks before your meeting

Before your 30-minute meeting, Josh checks seven things using public information only. You don’t need to share any logins.

  1. Your main search: who shows in the map pack and top results for “[your service] coffs harbour”.
  2. Your Google profile: categories, review count and how recent your reviews are, against the top three in the map pack.
  3. Indexing: how many of your pages Google shows.
  4. Mobile speed: PageSpeed Insights on your homepage and main service page.
  5. Tracking: whether GA4 or Tag Manager is installed, and whether tags fire twice.
  6. Listings: whether your name, address and phone match across the main directories.
  7. AI answers: one question about your service in Coffs Harbour, asked in ChatGPT and Perplexity.

Cost

How much SEO costs in Coffs Harbour, and how to choose an SEO company

SEO costs depend on your scope, and we give you a written price before you commit. We don’t sell fixed packages, so there is no price list here Confirm C14.

What drives the cost

  • How many services and areas you want to rank for
  • How competitive your searches are: a Coffs-only trade is different from a national specialist service
  • The state of your website: technical problems and missing pages take time to fix
  • How much content and proof needs creating
  • Whether Google Ads and the website are managed alongside SEO

How to choose an SEO company in Coffs Harbour

Ask any SEO agency in Coffs Harbour these seven questions, including us:

  1. Who will actually do the work, and who will I talk to?
  2. Can I see dated results from real, named clients?
  3. Are you actually local, and can we meet?
  4. Is there a lock-in contract?
  5. What will you report on: rankings, or enquiries?
  6. Do you guarantee rankings? The honest answer is no.
  7. Who owns the website, content and accounts if we leave?

FAQs

Coffs Harbour SEO questions

How much does SEO cost for a Coffs Harbour business?

It depends on the scope, so we give you a written price before you commit. The main factors are how many services and areas you want to rank for, how competitive those searches are, and the state of your website. We don’t sell fixed packages, and there is no lock-in. See what drives the cost.

How long does SEO take?

Months, not weeks. Fixes to your Google Business Profile, tracking and technical errors work as soon as they’re live. New pages, reviews and local links usually take three to six months to show clearly, and competitive or national searches take longer. See the 30/60/90/180-day timeline.

Is SEO being replaced by AI?

No. ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and Perplexity change where people ask questions, but they still draw on websites, business profiles and reviews to answer them. Google says its AI features use its normal search systems. Good SEO is how you get into those answers. See AI search optimisation.

Do I need SEO if I have a Google Business Profile?

Yes, in most cases. Your profile is one part of local SEO. Google also uses your website, reviews and mentions elsewhere to decide where you rank in Maps, and customers check your website before they call. See Google Business Profile optimisation.

What does an SEO company actually do?

An SEO company makes your business easier for Google and AI tools to find, understand and trust. It fixes technical problems and writes better service pages. It manages your Google Business Profile and reviews, builds genuine local links, and tracks which searches turn into enquiries. See what’s included.

How do I choose the best SEO company in Coffs Harbour?

Ask who does the work, for dated results from named clients, whether they’re local, about lock-in contracts and what they report on. Be wary of anyone who guarantees rankings, because no one controls Google. See 7 questions to ask and how the options compare.

Are you actually based in Coffs Harbour?

Yes. Our office is at 207 Harbour Dr, Coffs Harbour NSW 2450. You can meet Josh there in person or online, Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5 pm. Josh is your contact from the first meeting onwards. See find us.

Should we start with SEO or Google Ads?

Start with Google Ads if you need enquiries quickly, and run SEO alongside it. If you can wait a few months, SEO and your Google Business Profile usually give a lower cost per enquiry over time. Many clients run both. See SEO vs Google Ads.

Do you guarantee rankings or appearing in ChatGPT?

No. No one controls Google’s rankings or what AI tools say, so any guarantee is a warning sign. We control the quality of the work. Each month we tell you honestly what is working, what isn’t and what we’ll change. See monthly reporting.

Do we need a separate page for every nearby town?

Usually not. Town searches are small. Over 16 months, SEO searches naming our two biggest nearby towns showed in Google just 117 and 72 times (Ranknv’s Search Console). Google treats near-identical town pages as doorway pages. A town page makes sense only when you work there and have something specific to show.

Can you work with our existing website or developer?

Yes. We often work alongside an existing developer or Google Ads provider. The first step is agreeing in writing who is responsible for what, so nothing is fixed twice or missed. Or Shieka can make the fixes on WordPress. See website and technical SEO.

Do you only work with Coffs Harbour businesses?

No. Most of our local clients are on the Coffs Coast, and we also do SEO for businesses in Brisbane, Sydney and across Australia. A specialist service with strong pages can rank nationally from a regional base. See our results.

Why choose Ranknv for SEO in Coffs Harbour?

You deal with Josh, who is local to Coffs Harbour, not an account manager. SEO, Google Ads and your website are planned together, month to month with 30 days’ notice. Every result we show is dated and from a named client. Josh also meets Google’s Ads team in Sydney fortnightly. Confirm C37 See our results.

What happens when I book a meeting?

You pick a 30-minute time with Josh. He checks your search results, Google Business Profile and website beforehand, then tells you the three things he’d fix first. If it looks like a good fit, he follows up with a written scope. There’s no obligation. See what Josh checks.
